Mr Walkinshaw and Emily Oakes made the trip across to Ilkeston, Derbyshire on Saturday afternoon to join in with the UKITF Region 5 Black Belt Training Session, led by Master Michael Wood, 7th Degree Black Belt.
During the 2 hour class everyone was put through their paces beginning with a fast paced warm up courtesy of sparring champion Mr Curt Stevens 4th Degree Black Belt. Next came degree patterns with in depth focus on the minute technical details of each pattern. Followed by some set sparring, self defence before moving on to free sparring.
Finally the attention turned to the ominous looking board holder at the back of the hall with an impressively large stack of boards to go with it.
A most enjoyable workout was had by all and both Emily and Mr Walkinshaw agreed that they had learned loads courtesy of Master Wood and his team of Instructors.
