This year BDTKD only had the one entry into the UKITF British Championships in the shape of our new black belt Miss Emily Oakes, competing for the first time as a Black Belt only 6 days after being promoted to 1st Degree.
Following a week of intense training and instruction Miss Oakes took on competitors from all over the world including Hong Kong, Sweden and The Netherlands. With the international competitors taking the spoils with a clean sweep of the medals in PatternS which then brought about the sparring sections.
With Emily’s small frame she was the only competitor in her weight division and so she was moved up into a division 2 sections above her normal and fighting girls considerably bigger than herself. Undeterred Miss Oakes took to the ring looking to secure her first medal and qualification points for the national team and over the next couple of bruising rounds managed to secure herself a Bronze medal.
An excellent result and yet again 100% success at competitions for the Blue Dragon competition team. Well done to Miss Oakes and a massive thanks to her parents for their continued support.
